Come and join Deborah McCracken, 28 year old, Greater Toronto Area resident, founder and Tanzanian head of The Olive Branch for Children in Tanzania, Eastern Africa at The Empire Restaurant on Thursday, February 12, 2009 between 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm.
Deborah will highlight the charity’s goals and talk about the major undertakings and successes of The Olive Branch in the Mbeya region of Tanzania. She will describe:
• “Malaika” [‘Angel’ in Swahili] - the new fashion line that The Olive Branch has launched to help assist the self-sustainability of some students
• The Olive Branch’s new Agricultural Project for the community, including: providing the residents with small business grants, irrigation setup and basic supplies for farming including simple shovels and pails
• The charity’s making education accessible to children living at The Olive Branch, and The Olive Branch’s Education Fund for older children wanting to pursue a University or College education
• The impact of The Olive Branch’s permanent medical clinic and its hosting monthly medical clinics in remote villages – the growth and success of these clinics in these areas and what this means to the local residents
