| Description: |
The universal story of birth, life, and death - of sowing, cultivation, and harvest – comes to life in this richly layered multimedia exhibition.
Dominated by a monumental altar specially built at the Gardiner, the works on display have been commissioned from some of Mexico’s most prominent popular artists, including colourful papier-mâché skeletons by the Linares family, reproductions of prints by Guadalupe Posada and a clay tree of life by Tiburcio Soteno. The exhibition will be animated by several of the artists working at their craft (weaving, sculpting, toy making and glazing) in a studio space inside the exhibition.
A powerful photo essay by award-winning Toronto photographer, Vincenzo Pietropaolo, brings the story home by portraying the lives of Mexican farm workers here in Ontari
